The print head rattled around like an old trolley when running. It would not respond correctly to commands from the computer.3. The machine was advertised as "Used, like new". 2. It was packed very poorly (shook loose in the box with minimum packing materials).I have had this same Epson printer in the past and it was a good printer and worked well for a long time. In fact, it was in very bad shape. 1.
Epson printers are 'workhorses'. I would happily advise purchasing the 1280, and for that matter ANY Epson printer. Two weeks ago it finally said "enough" and I replaced it with the Workforce 1100.Considering that people I know who routinely purchase Lexmarks, Cannons, HPs, and Brothers have replaced theirs at least twice in this time frame.
I have used it daily to do flyers, club newsletters, (about a ream of paper a week) and personal correspondence. Yes, I had to do a bit of adjusting for color output in some pictures here and there. I purchased my 1280 in 2002.
Last month I started having problems with the quality of output. I even published ten copies each of two 'family books' (over 200 pages each book), and an 'uncountable' number of pictures of all sizes.
I have been completely satisfied with the ease of operation, the quality of all the work I produced.
CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NO KNOWLEDGE. EPSON DOES NOT SUPPLY DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS VISTA. BUY AN HP, You'll have much better luck and quality is better. WARNING. DO NOT BUY.
I can't give this seller any stars because I bought a printer that don't work and not getting any response from the seller. I have contact the seller by e-mail about 7 days and havn't gotten a response. I wouldn't but any thing from this seller and suggest other to do the same. First of all I don't get all the parts in the first shipment. The printer never work and I found debre down in the printer.
So far, no reply from Epson. I may have to get a local techie to see if my new computer (and I know there can be serious problems here, functionality-wise) can be converted back to XP. I've had my 1280 for several years, and other than using a fair bit of ink it's an excellent machine (I sell my photography). As well as this works, I can't see buying a new printer from a company with such poor support. Anyway, this is a serious and possible very expensive problem. HOWEVER - I had to get a new computer recently and the 1280 won't work at all. There are some online postings saying people have had trouble getting the ink levels to read and there is a patch for that, but mine won't work at all.
